Job summary

Wheatland Tube in Blytheville, AR is seeking a Waste Water Technician to manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment system, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include dosing chemicals, calibrating instrumentation, recording water quality data, coordinating monthly discharge sampling, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives with the Environmental Manager and Quality team.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
• Ability to operate pumps, valves and measurement equipment safely.
• Experience with wastewater treatment processes and laboratory testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the wastewater treatment system.
• Dose chemicals and calibrate instrumentation (pH probes).
• Record flow and pH readings; coordinate sampling and testing.
• Coordinate with Environmental Manager on troubleshooting.
• Lead daily quality and safety practices on the shop floor.
• Support continuous improvement and process control initiatives.

Hospitals, hotels, schools, bridges, airports and more.Come build a career you believe in.ABOUT THE ROLE:Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, is seeking a Waste Water Technician for our Wheatland Tube facility located in Blytheville, AR.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform duties in accordance with the company safety policies and report unsafe conditionsResponsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment system. This includes operating electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of raw water into treatment plant.Dosing appropriate quantities of chemicals into the process water, cleaning and calibrating instrumentation (such as pH probes), operating the sludge filter press, conducting preventative maintenance tasks and coordinating with the Environmental Manager and other departments to troubleshoot problems.Records water flow meter and pH readings throughout the facility.Performs laboratory indicator testing of effluent waters and makes process adjustments accordingly.Coordinate the collection of monthly discharge samples of the WWT systemPerform inspections of specific processes throughout the plantPerform work-station audits on shop floor to ensure quality procedures are implemented and effectivePerforms regular training of hourly teammates in quality standards and plansSupport gauge calibration program through issuing and monitoring gauges utilized on the floorPerform daily audits of gages being utilized throughout the facilityCoordinate special projects directed from Quality ManagerParticipate in continuous improvement and yield projects as directed by Quality ManagerSupport the quality objectives of the plant through process control and inspectionAssist with other projects and analyses as neededREQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:Minimum of five years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing environmentA strong team player is necessary with the ability to coordinate efforts of many individuals throughout the teamSound decision-making ability, computational, and analytical skillsExcellent communication skills (both written and verbal)Lead and promote health and safety work practices as required by regulatory agencies and company policyRegular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this roleMinimum of HS diploma requiredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, push and pull.
