Job summary

Inframark is seeking a Wastewater Operator to join our Operations and Maintenance team in Virginia. The role focuses on operating and maintaining equipment at wastewater facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting service for municipal and industrial clients.

You will conduct routine testing, monitor unit processes, and respond to after-hours emergencies. The position requires flexibility to work weekends and various shifts, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Willingness to study required materials and obtain water/wastewater certification.
• Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures and safe practices.
• Ability to perform routine on-site maintenance and emergency repairs of treatment equipment.
• Knowledge of regulatory rules is essential.
• Previous water or wastewater treatment experience is desirable.
• Completion of water or wastewater coursework is desirable.
• Willing to work all shifts including weekends, holidays, evenings, and 24-hour emergency on call.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment/machinery including valves, pumps, motors, belt presses, disinfection equipment, and vehicles.
• Performs routine testing and monitoring of water/wastewater processes and basic laboratory analyses.
• Documents treatment and maintenance activities, plant performance, and chemical usage.
• Supports after-hours responses to repair treatment equipment and related systems.
• Ensures facilities are clean, neat, and secure.
• Provides customer service as needed.
• Works across shifts as required.
