Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience: Wastewater experience preferred; entry-level training may be provided.
• Licensing: State wastewater operator certification.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
• Ability to read meters, gauges and flow charts.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Safety and environmental compliance knowledge.
• Basic computer literacy for data entry and SCADA systems.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders and work in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Collect and analyze samples of wastewater and sludge.
• Adjust treatment processes based on test results and data.
• Inspect and maintain equipment; perform basic repairs.
• Record operational data in logs or digital systems.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and safety standards.
• Respond to alarms or emergencies; troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain plant cleanliness and safety.
• Assist with preventative maintenance programs.
• Collaborate with other operators, engineers, and supervisors.
