Job summary

The HEICO Companies, LLC is seeking a Wastewater Operator in California to operate and maintain water treatment equipment and monitor processes. You will ensure regulatory compliance and accurate reporting while coordinating with a team of operators and maintenance staff.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintenance, data logging, and preparing regulatory reports. This is a union position with pay in the stated hourly range and standard safety protections.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience preferred.
  • Must have Grade 1 California Wastewater Operator Certificate (RWQCB) or a Grade 1 CWEA Certificate in Collection System Maintenance, Environmental Compliance Inspection, Plant Maintenance or Industrial Waste Treatment or a California Department of Health Services Certification in Distribution (D1) or Treatment (T1).

Job description

The Wastewater Operators are responsible for operating and maintaining the water treating equipment and monitoring the process. Wastewater operators are in charge of making sure the process of cleaning and discharging the waters is effective and ensure that procedural and regulatory guidelines are followed.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Operates wastewater system in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational systems.
  • Performs maintenance of wastewater systems.
  • Perform assigned general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintains and calibrates hand‑held and on‑line monitoring equipment and treatment equipment as required.
  • Follows company's Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies, and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Takes and records system operation readings according to prescribed schedules.
  • Creates Regulatory reports.
  • Maintains daily logs and records plant operating data.
  • Working with other operators, supervisors, and maintenance to correct discovered problems.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly workspace.
  • Performs miscellaneous work as assigned.
  • Working conditions include exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles including hazardous chemicals.

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience preferred.
  • Minimally, must have Grade 1 California Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate (RWQCB) or a Grade 1 CWEA Certificate in Collection System Maintenance, Environmental Compliance Inspection, Plant Maintenance or Industrial Waste Treatment or a California Department of Health Services Certification in Distribution (D1) or Treatment (T1)
Physical Requirements
  • Push pull and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must be dependable and able to work independently.
  • Familiar with basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Required to use all personal protective equipment (company provided) in compliance with OSHA regulations.

This is a union position. New hires are required to pay a union initiation fee to the local union. Upon passing probation, new hires will join the union and will be required to pay monthly union dues.

Pay: $26 to $30/hr
