Job summary

Veolia is seeking an SS Operator 1 to provide operations and maintenance support on water treatment systems for diverse industries. You will work with filtration, softening, RO, IX, de-oxygenation, electro deionization, and UF, with primary duties unloading Process Filter Presses.

The role requires physical work, adherence to safety protocols, and collaborative communication with Shift Leads and operation teams to ensure reliable plant performance.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma / GED required; international equivalent accepted
• 2+ years of service/maintenance experience in an industrial environment preferred
• Bachelor's/Associate degree in Science/Engineering or technical certificate in Instrumentation preferred

Responsibilities

• Unload Process Filter Presses
• Power wash pits and equipment with safety practices
• Carry out filter changes and cleaning as directed by Shift Leads
• Maintain site paperwork and provide work summaries
• Monitor inventory of spare parts and chemicals
• Operate, monitor, and optimize equipment as directed
• Perform maintenance and calibration activities
• Maintain a clean work area
• Other duties as assigned

Job Description

Job Summary:
As an SS Operator 1, you’ll be on the front lines providing operations and maintenance support on water treatment systems for one of our customers from one of a variety of industries. This mission critical role involves working on (and cleaning) a variety of technologies including, media filtration, softening, reverse osmosis (RO), ion exchange (IX), de-oxygenation, electro deionization, and ultrafiltration (UF). The primary duty is to unload Process Filter Presses.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Empty Process Filter Presses
• Power Wash Pits and Equipment including Confined Space Entry
• Carry out filter changes, process cleaning, and process operations as directed by Shift Leads
• Maintain site paperwork, and provide summaries of work performed
• Communicate with Shift Lead on inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of chemicals and replacement parts
• Monitor and maintain systems as directed
• Perform analytical testing as directed
• Consult with Shift Lead and operation teams for direction
• Operate, monitor, and optimize equipment as directed
• Change and Clean Filters and other equipment / Pits
• Conduct maintenance and calibration activities
• Maintain a clean work area
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent mechanical know-how
• Ability and willingness to perform physical duties such as lifting, climbing, working at elevated heights, and manual dexterity
• Ability and willingness to work in a range of environments to include but not limited to industrial facilities, manufacturing facilities, and power industry facilities

Education & Experience:

Required

• High School Diploma / GED / Home School Certification OR international equivalent 2+ years’ experience of service/maintenance or equivalent in an industrial environment

Preferred

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in Science/Engineering (STEM) or technical certificate in Instrumentation
