Job summary

The City of Santa Maria is modernizing its wastewater treatment infrastructure and seeks a Wastewater Manager to lead the operation and maintenance of the city's wastewater system, including treatment, sewer collections, and related facilities.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Utilities - Water Resources, you will manage a team of 15, drive regulatory compliance, safety, and capital projects, and partner with internal teams to deliver reliable, compliant service to the community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related field.
• Experience in managing wastewater operations, regulatory compliance, and capital projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day wastewater system operations and maintenance.
• Lead long-range capital programs and coordinate with consultants.
• Develop and administer budgets for the Water Resources Division.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare technical reports for agencies.
• Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.
• Present information to City Council and community groups.
