Job summary

NTMWD is seeking a Mechanic’s Assistant to support maintenance of wastewater facilities and systems, including liquids treatment, solids handling, chemical systems, odor control, and lift stations. You will assist mechanics, plant operators, and maintenance staff to ensure asset reliability and regulatory compliance.

The role requires basic mechanical/electrical aptitude, strong safety awareness, and the ability to follow instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or trade cert preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Preference for Texas wastewater treatment or maintenance license.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance and renewal of wastewater facilities and systems.
• Collaborate with mechanics and plant operators to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pumps, blowers, valves, and related equipment.
• Assist with inventory control and planning of maintenance procedures.
• Follow safety guidelines and NTMWD policies; maintain logs and records.
