Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking a Mechanic’s Assistant to support maintenance of wastewater facilities and related systems. The role focuses on asset renewal, safety, and ensuring wastewater quality and health standards are met.

You will collaborate with mechanics and plant operators, assist in evaluating equipment performance, and perform routine maintenance on pumps and process equipment. A valid Texas driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate basic mechanical, electrical, technology and operations aptitude.
• Experience in wastewater operations or maintenance is strongly preferred.
• Ability to comprehend and carry out written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Mechanics and Plant Operators to perform maintenance and renewal of treatment assets.
• Assist in evaluating equipment performance and ensuring compliant, efficient operations.
• Support routine maintenance on pumps, valves and related process equipment; perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Perform rough carpentry, painting, plumbing, welding and other mechanical duties as required.
• Notify and coordinate with supervisors for repairs and renewal; assist with inventory management.
• Follow job plans to maintain safe and consistent work practices.
• Monitor facility security and report issues to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with grounds keeping and general facility appearance.
• Adhere to integrity, trust, respect, unity, safety and teamwork values.
