Job summary

Capital Region Water seeks an entry-level Operations Laborer I for its Wastewater Department. This full-time role performs routine manual tasks under supervision at the Advanced Wastewater Treatment Facility and other locations in the service area.

Responsibilities include custodial duties, equipment setup, valve operation, grounds maintenance, and loading/unloading deliveries. The job requires physical work in varied conditions and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• One-year maintenance, construction or related work experience preferred.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License, Class C.
• Entry-level position with routine manual work in Wastewater Department.

Responsibilities

• Cleans, sweeps, dusts, mops, washes windows on a scaffold or ladder and performs custodial duties.
• Cleans gutters, culverts, sewers, wastewater process tankage, units and equipment.
• Assists facility operators with relocation and setup of portable pumps.
• Operates manual valves at direction of certified facility operators.
• Cuts grass, maintains flower beds, rakes leaves, shovels snow, picks up litter.
• Assists in loading/unloading cargo deliveries, usually with pallet jack or dolly cart.
• Remains alert to alarms on vehicular equipment and reacts appropriately.
• Completes all assignments efficiently and maintains regular attendance.
• Maintains productive condition and is not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
