Job summary

OWASA seeks a Laboratory Supervisor to lead our Wastewater Management Laboratory programs and team, ensuring compliance, quality testing, and effective operations at a Grade IV plant with reclaimed water distribution.

The role supervises two staff and a summer intern, develops SOPs, QA/QC and safety plans, and communicates with customers and vendors while supporting a culture of excellence and inclusion.

Qualifications

• At least four years experience in wastewater laboratory and one year performing in a supervisory role.
• Experience analyzing inorganic and bacteriological wastewater parameters using certified wastewater methods (ex.: cBOD, TSS, Fecal Coliform).
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
• Service-oriented attitude and inclusive work environment.
• Ability to obtain NC drivers license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all laboratory procedures and programs comply with laws and regulations.
• Perform and oversee analytical testing; manage supplies and equipment purchases.
• Supervise and develop a staff of two employees and one intern; manage performance expectations.
• Communicate with customers, the public, and vendors.
• Create and update SOPs, QA/QC manuals, Chemical Hygiene Plans, Safety Data Sheets, Chain of Custody forms, Discharge Monitoring Reports and monthly reports.
