Job summary

Capital Region Water is seeking a Field Maintenance Worker II to support the operation and maintenance of the sewer system in Harrisburg, PA. The role involves operating pumps, backhoes, and related equipment while ensuring safety and compliance with procedures.

You will perform preventive maintenance, monitor alarms, read technical manuals and drawings, and maintain accurate maintenance records using Microsoft Access and Excel. Evening shifts and on-call availability may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid PA CDL Class B with Endorsement N.
• Wastewater Certificate Class E or ability to attain one preferred.
• Experience in wastewater collection systems operations and maintenance.
• Ability to read technical manuals, drawings, blueprints.
• Strong safety, communication, and record-keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain pumps, blowers, generators and related equipment.
• Operate backhoes and sewer flushing/rodding equipment under supervision.
• Enter and work within sewerage system; assist with maintenance.
• Monitor air quality and respond to alarms and hazards.
• Set up safety equipment and act as flagman.
• Use hand and power tools for maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain records and prepare maintenance reports using software.
