Town of Gilbert is seeking Wastewater Utility Worker I & II to maintain and service wastewater and reclaimed water systems in Gilbert, AZ. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and proactive time/resource management in an outdoor setting.

Wastewater Worker I requires up to 1 year of related training/experience; Worker II requires 2 years. CDL with Tanker Endorsement and ADEQ/other certifications are required or pursued after hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Up to 1 year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in water, wastewater or related field
• Up to 1 year of experience in water, reclaimed water, distribution system operation or related field
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Responsibilities

• Performs repairs and maintenance on wastewater systems and reclaimed water distribution systems.
• Troubleshoots system problems and makes recommendations for corrective action.
• Fills percolation ponds according to predetermined schedules and revises the schedule as needed.
• Operates, inspects, and maintains reclaimed water distribution infrastructure; logs daily records and reads meters.
• Performs maintenance, inspection, and repair of wastewater collection assets such as gravity mains, force mains, manholes, and lift stations.
• Operates a variety of equipment including trucks, heavy machinery, CCTV equipment, and sewer cleaners.
• Available on a 24-hour basis for emergencies and after-hours callouts; on-call as required.
• Reads and interprets engineering plans, architectural plans, and blueprints.
• Ensures compliance with all regulations and laws.
