Job summary

The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities is seeking an Equipment Operator III in the Wastewater Division. The role involves driving various equipment to and from job sites, transporting crew, and performing routine maintenance on vehicles at Combined Operations, 1316 Ballentine Blvd.

Two years of Equipment Operator experience and a valid CDL are required. A Class A CDL may be needed; pre-employment testing on equipment operation may be required.

Qualifications

• Two years experience as an Equipment Operator.
• Valid driver’s license and CDL required. Tanker Endorsement may be required within six months.
• Class A CDL may be required; pre-employment testing on equipment may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operates construction and wastewater system maintenance equipment such as backhoes, jet/vactor cleaners, trenchers, and dump trucks.
• Transports heavy equipment, supplies, and materials to job sites.
• Performs safety checks, maintenance, and minor repairs on equipment and tools.
• Assists with loading/unloading materials, job site tasks, and maintaining clean equipment and work areas.
• Lifts up to 75 lbs., climbs, stands, pulls, bends, stoops during the day.
