Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc. is hiring an Environmental Technician for the East Alton, IL facility. The role focuses on operating and optimizing the industrial wastewater treatment system to meet permit requirements and company standards.

The candidate will collect samples, maintain records, and support environmental compliance programs, audits, and reporting while collaborating with operations, maintenance, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of industrial wastewater treatment, water treatment, environmental compliance, or related industrial experience.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations and industrial wastewater treatment processes.
• Ability to perform field sampling and environmental inspections.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to obtain Illinois Wastewater Operator Class K license within three months of employment.
• Illinois Wastewater Operator Certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the wastewater treatment facility to ensure compliance and permit adherence.
• Perform routine system inspections of treatment equipment, pumps, tanks, and instrumentation.
• Monitor processes and adjust chemical feed rates and controls as needed.
• Collect and analyze data to optimize treatment performance.
• Respond to alarms and coordinate repairs with maintenance.
• Maintain operating logs, records, and regulatory reporting.
• Assist with regulatory reports and environmental audits.
• Support environmental sampling and regulatory inspections.
