Job summary

Wieland North America, Inc. in East Alton, IL is seeking an Environmental Technician to operate and optimize the wastewater treatment facility and support environmental compliance.

The role emphasizes safety, regulatory knowledge, and strong technical aptitude, spanning plant operations, sampling, data management, and reporting. The candidate will work on-site Monday–Friday, with starting pay of $62,000–$75,000 and bi-weekly pay schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years of industrial wastewater treatment, water treatment, environmental compliance, or related experience.
• Ability to obtain Illinois Wastewater Operator Class K license within three months of employment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work on-site at East Alton, IL.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor the WWTF to ensure permit compliance.
• Perform routine system inspections of treatment equipment, pumps, tanks, piping, instrumentation and controls.
• Monitor processes and adjust chemical feed rates, pH control, sludge handling and other parameters.
• Collect and analyze data to optimize treatment performance and identify issues.
• Respond to alarms and malfunctions; coordinate repairs with maintenance.
