Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of industrial wastewater treatment, water treatment, environmental compliance, or related industrial experience.
Working knowledge of environmental regulations and industrial wastewater treatment processes.
Ability to perform field sampling and environmental inspections.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and assist with preparation of technical reports.
Ability to obtain Illinois Wastewater Operator Class K license within three months of employment.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor the WWTF to ensure effective treatment and permit compliance.
Perform routine system inspections of treatment equipment, pumps, tanks, piping systems, instrumentation, and controls.
Monitor treatment processes and adjust chemical feed rates, pH control systems, sludge handling equipment, and other operational parameters as needed.
Collect and analyze operational data to optimize treatment performance and identify potential issues.
Respond to alarms, process upsets, and equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
Coordinate repairs with maintenance personnel and contractors.
Manage treatment chemicals and related inventories.
Maintain accurate operating logs, reports, and records required by operating permits and company procedures.
Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and compliance documentation.
Environmental Sampling and Monitoring: Collect wastewater, stormwater, and other environmental samples in accordance with regulatory requirements and company procedures.
Coordinate laboratory analysis and maintain sample chain-of-custody documentation.
Review analytical data and communicate unusual results or trends to management.
Environmental Compliance Support: Conduct routine environmental inspections of site operations, storage areas, treatment systems, and waste management areas.
Support compliance activities associated with air permits, wastewater permits, stormwater permits, hazardous waste regulations, spill prevention programs, and other environmental requirements.
Assist with environmental audits and regulatory inspections.
Maintain environmental records, databases, and compliance tracking systems.
Participate in corrective action efforts and assist with implementation of compliance improvements.
Support environmental training initiatives as required.
Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions following environmental events.
General Responsibilities: Promote and maintain compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
Maintain good housekeeping standards in environmental operating areas.
Work effectively with operations, maintenance, laboratory personnel, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Perform other environmental and operational duties as assigned.
