Job summary

United Utilities in Carlisle, Cumbria, is seeking a Drainage Delivery Engineer to act as custodian of drainage for their area and improve network performance in collaboration with the Drainage Performance Engineer.

You will monitor spend, propose cost-effective solutions, and champion resolution to reduce reactive work while understanding day-to-day operations and the regulatory environment. This is a permanent, full-time onsite role with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• HNC in civil engineering is essential.
• Awareness of Confined Space Regulations 1997 is essential.
• Knowledge of pumping station operation and sewerage law is required.
• Strong analytical, planning and organisational skills to manage budgets and deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with wastewater network policies, environmental regulations and health & safety requirements.
• Improve drainage network performance by supporting planned maintenance and reducing incidents.
• Maintain accurate wastewater records to meet regulatory standards.
• Proactively manage network issues and respond to reactive work as needed.
• Provide technical expertise, support stakeholders, and monitor budgets for asset improvement.
