Job summary

The City of Norfolk's Department of Utilities seeks a Crew Leader I for the Wastewater Division to lead a crew of maintenance workers, equipment operators and others in construction, maintenance and repair of the wastewater system.

Responsibilities include directing work, ensuring safety, maintaining reports, and coordinating transport to sites; candidates should have at least two years supervisory maintenance experience and a valid driver's license (CDL may be required).

Qualifications

• Two years supervisory experience in a maintenance role highly preferred.
• Knowledge of basic operational or technical processes.
• Requires ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle and valid driver's license; CDL may be required.

Responsibilities

• Directs and leads a crew in installation, repair, cleaning and maintenance of the wastewater collection system.
• Maintains time, equipment and materials used to prepare reports.
• Instructs crew on safety standards and work expectations.
• Transports crew to work sites.
• Operates a standard transmission vehicle; CDL may be required.
• Lifts up to 75 lbs; climbs ladders and stairs; confined space entry required.
