Job summary

City of Norfolk seeks a Crew Leader I in the Wastewater Division to supervise a crew of maintenance workers, equipment operators, and other staff in the construction, maintenance, and repair of the wastewater system. You will oversee safety, reporting, and on-site coordination.

Essential functions include directing a crew, ensuring timely reports, and resolving complaints while maintaining equipment and materials. CDL or driver’s license may be required.

Qualifications

• Directs and leads a crew involved in the installation, repair, cleaning and maintenance of the wastewater collection system.
• Maintains time, equipment and materials used to prepare reports.
• Instructs crew on proper safety standards and work expectations.
• Transports crew to work sites.
• Climbs ladders and stairs; lifts up to 75 lbs.; confined space entry may be required.
• Valid driver's license required; CDL may be required.

Responsibilities

• Directs and leads a crew involved in the installation, repair, cleaning and maintenance of the wastewater collection system which includes manholes, gravity mains, and force mains.
• Maintains time, equipment and materials used to prepare reports
• Instructs crew on proper safety standards and work expectations
• Transports crew to work sites
• Climbs ladders and stairs; bends, pushes, pulls, stoops, and lifts up to 75 lbs.; stands for extended periods of time; confined space entry also required
• Requires the ability to operate a standard transmission vehicle
• Valid driver's license required
