Job summary

City of Statesville seeks a Wastewater Control Operator Trainee to learn and support the operation and maintenance of the 4th Creek WWTP. The role progresses toward becoming a certified operator as training and orientation are completed.

Expect to work under supervision, handle readings and samples, and participate in safety and maintenance tasks, with a Monday–Friday 7AM–3:30PM schedule and opportunities for certification within set timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate and maintain wastewater treatment facility under supervision.
• Participate in on-the-job tasks and training to understand treatment processes.
• Adjust treatment operations to comply with rules and SOPs.
• Assist in basic maintenance and repairs of plant equipment.
• Take readings, collect samples, record measurements, and maintain logs.
• Perform basic physical and chemical analysis to monitor efficiency.
• Inform Lead Operator of problems and assist with corrective actions.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in grounds/building maintenance.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
