Job summary

The City of Gresham is seeking an entry-level Wastewater Collections Operator 1 to support maintenance and construction across 290+ miles of mains and 25,964 connections. The role also maintains landscaped areas around pump stations and easements, with a four 10-hour day schedule outdoors in varied weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Up to one year of related work experience desired.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Driving record must meet City matrix standards.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 12 months of hire.
• OSHA Confined Space certification within 12 months of hire.
• OSHA Competent Person certification within 12 months of hire.
• Oregon DOT flagger certification within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain landscaped areas around wastewater pump stations, easements, and off-road structures.
• Operate equipment such as string trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and mowers; provide traffic control as needed.
• Inspect and clean wastewater mains and laterals; record activities in asset management system.
• Construct, repair, and maintain wastewater facilities; operate hand and power tools.
• Perform traffic-control and flagging duties as needed.
• Attend job-related training and meetings; read/respond to emails; track time/attendance; work overtime as needed.
