Job summary

Middlesex Water Company in Perth Amboy, NJ is seeking a Collection System Worker II to maintain and repair the wastewater collection system and pump stations under supervision. You will operate equipment such as hydro cleaners and sewer vacuum trucks, respond to emergencies, perform line locating, and assist in appurtenance repairs.

This full-time position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid NJ driver's license, and may require CDL Class B within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid NJ drivers license required.
• CDL Class B license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Overtime availability and standby duties.
• Willingness to work outdoors year-round.
• Attendance and reliability expected.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
• Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair tasks in the Citys wastewater collection system and pump stations.
• Operate hydro cleaner and sewer vacuum truck; assist in cleaning and unclogging lines.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in line locating and marking.
• Read maps and become familiar with distribution system.
• Coordinate with crews for manhole work and masonry tasks as needed.
• Maintain company vehicles in clean and safe condition.
• Assist in safety meetings and training sessions.
• Work unscheduled overtime as required.
