Job summary

The City of San Luis Obispo is seeking a skilled Wastewater Collection System Operator to maintain and operate the 2C-designated wastewater collection system and citywide storm drain network. The role supports public health, regulatory compliance, and city operations.

Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, effective communication, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Field work, basic electrical/hydraulic knowledge, and proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED; mechanical aptitude.
• Current CWEA Wastewater Collection Maintenance certification is highly desirable.
• Experience with wastewater or stormwater systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in maintenance, operation, and repair of the wastewater collection system and storm drain system.
• Responds to wastewater and storm water emergencies; assesses, repairs, or coordinates repairs.
• Operates a variety of equipment and maintains records and reports; supports on-call standby duties.
