Job summary

Recology King County is seeking a Waste Zero Supervisor in Seattle to lead the Waste Zero team, develop and maintain customer relationships, and assist in waste diversion strategies. You will guide programs, oversee operations, and ensure compliance with policies and laws.

The role emphasizes supervisory responsibilities, budget considerations, and frequent travel to offsite meetings as part of building a safety-conscious, customer-focused operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in waste industry, recycling programs, community relations.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in waste management.
• Awareness of marketing, communications and management trends.
• Familiarity with office software and information systems.
• Experience supervising staff and evaluating performance.

Responsibilities

• Develops waste diversion strategies in coordination with management.
• Researches and implements new residential and commercial diversion programs.
• Plans and administers diversion programs with community engagement.
• Oversees recycling services and related operations.
• Coordinates projects, delegates tasks, resolves conflicts.
• Supervises team, ensures deliverables and reports meet goals.
• Manages budgets and staffing plans as needed.
• Handles confidential customer information per regulations.
• Engages customers for feedback and resolves issues.
• Develops new customers and services for existing accounts.
• Reviews audit reports on contamination and diversion with management.
• Prepares speeches/presentations for community and customers.
• Participates in local organizations as a company representative.
• Directs drivers in contamination processes; provides training and coaching.
• Supports safety culture within the team and company.
• Develops literature/brochures promoting services; surveys routes for rates and efficiency.
• Ensures insurance certificates are in order as needed.
• Maintains flexible schedule based on business needs.
• Travels frequently to offsite meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
