Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. in Texas seeks a Water/Wastewater Engineer to design municipal water and wastewater systems, including treatment units and pump stations. You will lead design teams, perform hydraulic calculations, and prepare plans and cost estimates.

You will mentor junior engineers, guide projects through permits, and coordinate with clients. Travel and overtime to meet deadlines are required; a Texas P.E. or eligibility within 6 months is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Texas P.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• 8+ years in water/wastewater engineering with focus on system design/treatment units.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of water distribution, wastewater collection, treatment units, and pump stations for municipal/industrial clients.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, pump sizing, and advanced modeling.
• Manage development of plans, specs, and permitting processes; ensure schedules and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare technical reports and cost estimates reflecting expertise and attention to detail.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and integrate new technologies to improve outcomes.
• Lead meetings with clients and maintain long-term relationships; mentor junior engineers.
• Drive business development and regional project coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Charge in Design: Design innovative water distribution, wastewater collection systems, treatment units, and pump stations for both municipal and industrial clients.

Skills and Experience:

• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterCAD, ArcGIS, and other essential software.
• Experience: At least 8 years in water/wastewater engineering with a strong focus on system design and treatment units. Candidates with 10+ years of experience are highly encouraged to apply.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Certifications: Texas P.E. or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire is required.
• Leadership: Demonstrates strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a proven ability to effectively manage design teams and foster professional growth.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) standards and regulations is essential.
• Additional Requirements: Ability to travel as needed and work overtime to meet project deadlines. Excellent communication skills are a must.

Preferred Experience:

Design experience in water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, and lift stations, wastewater collection, and water distribution.

Previous experience working with both private and municipal clients in various settings.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $140,000 per year. Salaries are based on years of experience, skillset, and qualifications. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
