Job summary

City of Cape Girardeau is seeking a Transfer Station Operator to perform technical duties in daily operations and maintenance at the Transfer Station. You will load materials, tarp trailers, and oversee equipment while ensuring compliance with MDNR/EPA regulations.

The role requires a Missouri Class B CDL with air brake endorsement, a high school diploma, and the ability to work with inmates and daily cash handling. Benefits and competitive hourly pay accompany the position.

Qualifications

• Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
• High School graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Load trash and recycling materials into open top trailers using hi-lift or backhoe.
• Prepare loaded trailers for transport by tarping and weighing with yard trucks.
• Transport multiple 20 yard containers between recycling center and transfer station.
• Load brush, compost, and appliances into 50 yard containers and transport via roll-off truck.
• Load special waste from Republic Services into designated trailers as assigned.
• Conduct daily inspections of all transfer station equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
