Job summary

City of Cape Girardeau is seeking a Solid Waste Driver to collect refuse and recyclables on residential routes within the city. The role requires a valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with air brake endorsement.
• High School graduate or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Collects refuse on residential routes throughout the city.
• Collects recyclables on residential routes.
• Assists with dumping materials at the Transfer Station and Recycling Center.
• Performs daily truck safety inspections; washes trucks weekly.
• Assists the driver in traffic control.
• Assists with pickup of appliances, compost and bulk refuse during Wednesday special trash collections.
• Performs the work of a Solid Waste Driver in his or her absence.
• Assists at the Recycling Facility; processes recyclables; operates equipment; maintains grounds.
• Assists at the Transfer Station; processes single stream recycling; loads/refuse into trailers; maintains grounds.
• Responds to emergency call out situations as required.
