Job summary

Orange County Government is seeking a Weighmaster (Scalehouse Attendant) for the Solid Waste Division at the landfill in Orlando, FL. The role weighs vehicles, records origin and waste type, verifies loads, and handles transactions at the scalehouse with supervision from the Scalehouse Specialist.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of record keeping or cashier experience; a Florida driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Operates computerized truck scale system to weigh vehicles entering and exiting the landfill.
• Records vehicle information including weight, waste type, and point of origin.
• Verifies load contents for compliance with accepted material standards.
• Prepares daily transaction and activity reports.
• Collects fees and issues receipts according to established fee schedules.
• Provides information to haulers and the public regarding site rules and procedures.
• Coordinates vehicle flow to ensure safe and efficient traffic patterns.
• Identifies and reports potential safety or operational concerns.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the scalehouse.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
