Job summary

The City of Fort Smith in Arkansas is seeking an Equipment Operator - EO III for Commercial Rear Load operations. You will operate waste collection equipment, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and ensure safe handling of containers while maintaining reliable service in public areas.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid Class B CDL with air-brake endorsement, and 12 months of related vehicle operation experience, with on-the-job training for EO levels.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must have valid Class B CDL w/air brake endorsement upon hire.
• 12 months previous experience in operating construction related vehicles or heavy equipment is necessary.
• On the job training for transitioning to higher EO levels.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment as assigned.
• Open gates and unlock boxes as needed.
• Hook boxes in a safe manner.
• Perform pre and post trip vehicle inspection and clean truck daily.
• Responsible for safety of truck.
• Maintain route sheet.
• Communicate with dispatch regarding any needed container repairs.
• Communicate with customers in a pleasant manner.
• Regular attendance and timeliness are required.
