Job summary

City of Montrose is seeking a reliable sanitation truck driver to operate an automated collection truck on established routes in Montrose, CO. You will handle residential and commercial waste pickup, assist with container maintenance, and perform safety checks on daily work.

The role requires strong customer service and the ability to communicate clearly about service issues, with willingness to work non-standard hours including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by specialized training in construction and maintenance technology of public streets.
• Experience performing public works operations, construction and maintenance work in the assigned area of responsibility.
• This position is subject to non-standard working hours including weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Drive automated sanitation/recycling truck four to five days per week on established routes.
• Deliver collected material to designated facilities safely and timely.
• Repair and replace trash and recycling containers, and report maintenance needs.
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and keep equipment clean and in good condition.
• Provide customer service and instruct citizens on proper disposal of waste and recyclables.
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding service issues or missed pickups.
• Operate small power equipment as required.
• Report complaints to supervisory personnel.
• Train lower level workers and seasonal employees.
