Job summary

The City of High Point is hiring a Code Enforcement Officer I - Solid Waste to lead enforcement of the Solid Waste Ordinance, promote recycling, and reduce contamination. You will inspect routes, coordinate with enforcement teams, and educate residents and businesses on proper disposal and recycling practices.

This full-time role requires operating heavy municipal vehicles and working evenings, weekends, and events. A CDL and driving record may be required by the city.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred Associate degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Communications, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Experience in code enforcement, environmental compliance, or municipal government preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce the City’s Solid Waste Ordinance and investigate violations.
• Operate Automated Side Loader, Knuckle Boom, and Hook Truck as needed.
• Conduct inspections, audits, and recycling participation enforcement.
• Educate residents and businesses on waste and recycling requirements.
• Maintain records, generate reports, and assist with outreach programs.
