Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a Waste Processing Supervisor to oversee receipt and processing of wastes, ensuring safety, accuracy, and on-time delivery. You will manage staff, training, and cross-site communications while maintaining compliance with federal and local regulations.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in environmental/hazardous waste operations, knowledge of RCRA/DoT rules, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

Under the general guidance of the On‑Site Project Manager, the Waste Processing Supervisor will oversee the consolidation and operation of all wastes received, which can include hazardous, non‑hazardous, universal wastes and off‑spec products. The Waste Processing Supervisor will ensure that customer orders are safely and accurately processed on time and according to all internal procedures. Additionally, the Waste Processing Supervisor will ensure all operations maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and customer requirements. They will communicate effectively with internal and external teams, departments, customers, and vendors to achieve operational goals. The Waste Processing Supervisor will hire, train, develop, and manage the performance of their staff to attain a cohesive, motivated team.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Facility Management
  • Maintain operational documentation to include reports, licenses, procedures, order requirements, etc.
  • Manage and communicate with other sites and/or corporate teams to coordinate work.
  • Administer scheduled pickups and deliveries, including communications with customer(s) to resolve issues or clarify requirements.
  • Support compliance with all federal, state, and local permit requirements.
  • Communicate to management facility needs, difficulties and changes in operations.
  • Supervise segregation and packaging material for transport along with the completion of required paperwork in a legible, accurate, and timely manner in accordance with appropriate regulations and Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Oversee large projects/jobs including managing a team of technicians. Schedule and distribute work to team. Instruct, provide feedback, direct and assist team in performance of job duties to complete work in accordance with requirements and Clean Earth's policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Train technicians and operators on‑the‑job in equipment operation, service line processes and necessary paperwork. Provide training and coaching to team members as needed.
  • Promote Safety and Security initiatives across the entire team within their plant.
  • Follow all Health & Safety/Job Safety Analysis (JSA's) procedures as outlined in Clean Earth procedures and policies.
Work Environment
  • Required to wear company‑provided personal protective equipment including eye protection, foot protection, hard hat, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
  • Ability to maneuver around heavy equipment including bending, climbing, crawling, manual dexterity, and occasionally lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a hands‑on manner to execute key initiatives and activities.
  • Must be able to pass a DEA background check when relevant.
  • Must be willing and able to abide by Clean Earth’s Core Values and Code of Conduct.
Safety, Security, and Compliance
  • Promotes Safety and Security initiatives across the entire team at their facility.
  • Enforces and monitors safety rules and practices to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Reports and responds to facility incidents; identifies the cause when accidents or incidents occur, reviews and amends procedures as necessary and communicates findings to employees and management as needed.
  • Ensures all employees are knowledgeable about any potential or known hazards and takes all necessary precautions. Conducts crew safety meetings.
  • Provides and maintains compliance with personal protective equipment for their employees.
  • Communicates and trains safety protocols and compliance measures to ensure operational efficiency and regulatory adherence at their service center.
Qualifications
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.
Education
  • High School Diploma required, B.S. in an environmental‑related field.
  • 40‑hour HAZWOPER training completed and current, or ability to obtain.
Experience
  • 5+ years of progressive environmental/hazardous waste management experience working in an operations capacity in receiving waste or materials management.
  • Experience in the hazardous waste industry and general knowledge of RCRA and Department of Transportation (DoT) regulations as it relates to the transportation and processing of waste is preferred.
  • Understanding of waste profiling and tracking related to acceptance into inventory and outbound shipping of waste is preferred.
Compliance and Safety
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, required.
Customer Service & Communication
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Presentation skills and the ability to facilitate team discussions effectively.
Administrative & Leadership
  • Strong attention to detail in documentation and task execution.
  • Team‑building experience with exposure to employee engagement strategies.
Technical & Systems Proficiency
  • Familiarity with facility platforms and systems is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort with standard office software.
