Job summary

Veolia | North America in Kearny is seeking a Hazardous Materials Supervisor responsible for overseeing the segregation and packaging of hazardous materials. You will ensure compliance with regulations and assist in the proper disposal of such materials.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience handling hazardous materials and the ability to operate necessary equipment. A comprehensive benefits package is included, with pay ranging from $26 to $31 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous materials.
  • Ability to operate equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Must wear company-provided personal protection equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise segregation and packaging of material for process.
  • Separate and pack hazardous material for transport.
  • Complete required paperwork in accordance with our practices.
  • Collect samples of inbound waste for laboratory analysis.

Pay range: $26-31/hour DOE. Hours: 8-4:30 or 9-5:30.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Supervise segregation and packaging of material for process along with the completion of required paperwork in a legible, accurate, and timely manner in accordance with appropriate regulations and Clean Earth policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Separate and pack hazardous material for transport.
  • Complete required paperwork in accordance with our practices and procedures.
  • Collect samples of inbound waste for laboratory analysis.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous materials.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak in English.
  • Ability to operate equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack.
  • Must wear company-provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel-toed shoes, hard hat, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience sampling and receiving hazardous waste.
  • Ability to operate a powered industrial truck such as forklift and possess a safe driving record.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based programs (Excel and Word).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Hazardous Materials and OSHA Regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and RCRA Regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, biology, or related field.
