Job summary

The City of Memphis is seeking a dedicated truck driver with a Class B CDL to operate a packer-type garbage truck on assigned routes. You will supervise a small crew and participate in daily collection of waste, recyclables, and debris, while ensuring safe operation and timely service.

Responsibilities include vehicle inspection, routine maintenance, and using a handheld device to manage service requests. You will report route metrics to your supervisor and coordinate with the Solid Waste

Qualifications

• Valid Class B Tennessee CDL (or equivalent out-of-state)
• Must comply with DOT drug/alcohol testing rules

Responsibilities

• Drives packer-type truck on designated route and dumps load
• Directs small work crew for garbage/trash/recyclables collection
• Inspects and performs preventive maintenance on truck and equipment
• Uses handheld device to create/close service requests and tag piles
• Reports route status, time, tonnage, and route completion to supervisor
