Job summary

Waste Pro in Clarksville, TN is seeking a CDL driver for residential/commercial refuse collection. You will drive, unload at landfills, perform daily inspections, and help on routes while maintaining safety and DOT compliance.

Responsibilities include courteous customer service, proper pickup of garbage and recyclables, keeping reports up to date, and assisting other routes or events as needed. Must meet CDL requirements and have a safe driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have a Class A or B CDL valid for the state in which the position works. Requires a safe driving record.
• Requires 2 years of waste industry driving experience within the past 7 (seven) years
• Must be at least 21 years of age or older
• Understand refuse collection policies, procedures, guidelines and practices; understanding of Department of Transportation and State requirements for operators of commercial motor vehicles.
• Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction
• See in the normal visual range with or without correction
• Exhibit normal range of body motion
• Drive a front-end, side, rear-end, or roll off loading refuse truck, including right-hand driver's position on certain equipment, observing legal and defensive driving practices.
• Follow a designated refuse collection route or work schedule;
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions;
• Maintain written records and service responses.
• Must be able to speak and read English well enough to communicate with customers, co-workers, dispatch and supervisors, understand highway and traffic signals, and be able to make legible entries on paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives truck on pre-established route and dumps garbage on designated routes.
• Provides courteous, expeditious customer service to the public and customers.
• Ensures proper pickup and transfer of garbage and recyclables; uses back door if needed.
• Answers residents' questions and directs them to Customer Service or government offices.
• Performs daily pre/post trip inspections and DVIR daily per Waste Pro guidelines.
• Maintains clean truck; washes exterior weekly and inspects under hood.
• Prepares and submits required reports and documents.
• Assists other routes or events as needed.
• Complies with DOT and state requirements; may work during emergencies.
