Job summary

The Town of Mount Pleasant seeks a Waste Management Operator I to operate scow trucks and other heavy equipment in support of debris collection across Town routes. This role may handle C&D/demolition vegetation debris or MSW as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid SC Class B CDL, and the ability to lead a crew, work outdoors in all weather, and follow strict safety procedures. Training and PPE are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of prior work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License Class B.

Responsibilities

• Operate scow trucks and other department heavy trucks/equipment on assigned routes.
• Lead and manage a crew of collectors.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic routine maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Represent the Town and interact with the public daily.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and utilize PPE at all times.
• Assist with training new employees.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and maintain a clean work area.
