Job summary

Tompsc is seeking a Waste Management Operator II responsible for operating automated garbage trucks for municipal solid waste collection throughout Mt. Pleasant, SC. This role requires a strong ability to follow safety guidelines and perform routine equipment maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of related experience and a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License. You will represent the Town daily and assist in training new staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years prior work experience.
• Ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a detailed and accurate manner.
• Knowledge of department safety practices and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Operates automated side-loader garbage trucks to collect MSW.
• Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections on heavy equipment.
• Represents the Town and interacts with the public daily.

Skills

Knowledge of operation and maintenance of heavy equipment

Effective communication

Ability to lead assigned personnel

Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Ability to work under adverse weather conditions

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

South Carolina Commercial Driver's License Class B
