Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Gate Attendant/Scale Operator in the Chicago area to monitor waste volumes, record transactions, and collect fees from customers. This role uses truck scales and computer systems to document materials entering our facilities and ensure accurate billing.

The position requires prior cash-handling experience and basic computer skills. We offer benefits and a pay rate of $19.50 per hour, with rotating shifts at multiple Chicago-area locations.

Qualifications

• Experience in a role requiring cash handling and balancing receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.

Responsibilities

• Determine content of material entering facility to properly bill the customer.
• Accept or reject waste load based on content and advise on alternatives.
• Receive payment from customers and provide receipts.
• Balance daily receipts and deposit to safe depository.
• Document waste using truck scales and computer systems; track volume.
• Notify operations of special waste and process related paperwork.
• Answer the phone and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
