Meridian Waste is seeking a Scale Operator to accurately monitor waste volumes and handle customer transactions at the post-collection site. The role requires proper judgment to accept or reject loads and to document entries using truck scales and computer systems.

You will balance daily receipts, provide receipts to customers, and coordinate with operations on special loads. The position emphasizes safety, teamwork, and efficient customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience handling cash and balancing receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Experience in the Solid Waste Industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and record waste volumes entering the facility and ensure proper billing.
• Accept or reject waste loads and suggest alternatives based on waste type.
• Receive payments and provide receipts to customers.
• Balance daily receipts and deposit to the designated depository.
• Document waste entries using scales and computer systems; track totals.
• Notify operations of special waste or loads and coordinate as needed.
• Answer phones and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area and comply with safety policies.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.
