Job summary

Meridian Waste is seeking a Scale Operator to monitor and record waste volumes entering the site and collect appropriate usage fees from customers. The role involves determining waste content, approving or rejecting loads, and ensuring accurate daily cash handling and documentation.

Responsibilities include processing payments, providing receipts, and balancing daily receipts. Strong attention to safety, teamwork, and efficiency in a fast-paced environment is required.

Qualifications

• Experience handling cash and balancing receipts.
• Experience with computers and various software programs.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Experience in the Solid Waste Industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine content of material entering facility to properly bill the customer.
• Accept or reject waste loads based on content; suggest alternatives based on waste type and local market training.
• Receive payment from customers; provide receipt to customers.
• Balance the daily receipts to ensure accurate recordkeeping; deposit daily receipts into the safe depository.
• Document waste entering the facility using truck scales and computer systems; track total waste entering the facility.
• Notify operations of special waste or other incoming loads; process required paperwork.
• Answer the telephone and provide general information to callers.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the work area.
• Follow and comply with all safety policies.
• Additional duties as assigned.
