Job summary

The City of Lubbock is seeking a supervisory program coordinator to plan, organize, and oversee recycling, waste minimization, and HHW education initiatives. You will work to promote a positive image of the City, deliver excellent customer service, and coordinate cross-functional teams across education, outreach, and operations.

You will supervise staff, manage budgets, develop public education materials, and collaborate with schools, businesses, and community groups to expand sustainable waste

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, physical sciences, environmental studies, education, or related field.
• One to three years of administrative experience related to solid waste management, HHW, recycling, or related activities.
• Valid Driver's license

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, coordinate, and implement programs in solid waste recycling, waste prevention, and waste minimization.
• Supervise personnel directly or through subordinate staff; set performance standards and schedules.
• Review programs, research external pilot programs, and estimate costs and potential savings.
• Develop and deliver public education and training on solid waste management and recycling across schools, community groups, and businesses.
• supervise the drop-off sites, collect and transport commodities for recycling, and handle HHW storage.
• Prepare and administer cost center budgets for outreach, education, recycling, and HHW activities.
• Provide technical support on HHW, recycling, and contracted services; initiate and monitor bidding processes.
• Assist with department safety and employee training and development.
• Contribute to policy, procedure, budgeting, rate analysis, and long-range planning; conduct rate studies and write reports.
