Job summary

The City of Kirkland's Public Works Department is seeking an Education & Outreach Coordinator in the Solid Waste division to lead recycling programs, behavior change campaigns, and public education efforts. The role focuses on informing and engaging the community, coordinating communications, and supporting outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities include developing marketing plans, managing web and print communications, coordinating events, and collaborating across departments to promote

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, parks and recreation, journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, environmental education, public policy, public administration, community planning, or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in developing and implementing communications, education, and/or outreach programs, including two years program/project management experience.
• Or combination of relevant education and experience demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the essential duties.

Responsibilities

• Develop outreach campaigns to inform, educate, and engage the public regarding Department programs and topics.
• Coordinate community engagement and behavior change programs, set goals, and create project plans, budgets, and schedules.
• Implement outreach campaigns, coordinate events, procure and distribute giveaways, and evaluate program efficacy.
