The City of Manchester, NH is hiring a Refuse Collector for a Grade 104 pay range. You will collect solid waste and recyclables on assigned routes, learn city routes and collection points, and ensure materials meet standards.

This outdoor role requires physical capability, adherence to safety rules, and good communication with residents and staff. A high school diploma or GED is required, with up to two years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsabilités

• Collects solid waste or recyclables on an assigned route.
• Learns established City solid waste routes and usual collection points for residences and businesses.
• Determines acceptability of solid waste or recyclables in accordance with Department standards and City ordinances.
• Rakes, shovels and performs proper lifting techniques to move and collect materials.
• Informs supervisors of problems with routes and materials and maintains records of missed collections.
• Makes return visits to residences that have missed disposal.
• Provides input on condition of vehicles and equipment to managers.
• Maintains and cleans receptacles when practicable.
• Performs pre- and post-route maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Provides guidance to new employees in similar positions.
• Keeps supervisors informed of progress and issues.
• Attends meetings and training to stay current on practices.
