The City of Norfolk is seeking a Refuse Collector I in the Waste Management Division. The role involves collecting waste from residential properties along an assigned route and maintaining the collection truck.

The City emphasizes competitive pay and retirement benefits. Essential functions include operating an automated truck to collect waste, inspecting and maintaining the vehicle, and communicating with residents about collection codes.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Driver's License.
• Six (6) months refuse collection experience or commercial driving experience desired.
• Ability to read and understand written instructions and basic processes.

Responsabilités

• Collects and disposes of waste by operating an automated truck, picking up ninety gallon garbage cans and other refuse from the curb and transporting to the transfer station.
• Maintains the truck by fueling, washing, sweeping, and ensuring lights function properly.
• Conducts CDL Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections.
• Interacts daily with citizens by explaining refuse collection codes and procedures.
