Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Warranty Analysis Engineer for exhaust systems on a contract basis. This role focuses on warranty failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action support across powertrain and vehicle subsystems, with hands-on knowledge of exhaust systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
• 5–10 years of automotive warranty analysis or failure analysis experience.
• Strong understanding of automotive mechanical systems and fundamentals.
• Experience with teardown analysis and component diagnostics.
• Ability to read CAD drawings and engineering specifications.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed warranty part analysis and failure investigations.
• Conduct root cause analysis using 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why, FMEA, and fault tree methods.
• Support disposition activities including teardown and repairability assessments.
• Collaborate with design, supplier quality, manufacturing, and service teams to drive actions.
• Interpret drawings, GD&T, materials specs, tolerances, and validation reports.
• Use warranty databases to identify trends and reliability concerns.
• Prepare technical reports and engineering recommendations for leadership.
• Participate in continuous improvement focused on warranty reduction.
