Job summary

Mercantile, Chef Alex Seidel’s dining room and marketplace, is seeking a Host/Hostess to maintain an efficient, courteous restaurant operation. You will greet customers, seat them, and assist with service while processing payments at the cashier station.

A strong candidate enhances guest experience through friendly interactions, accurate cash handling, and a professional appearance in a fast-paced setting. This role emphasizes guest satisfaction and teamwork in a farm-to-table environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 3 months experience handling cash and delivering customer service.
• Familiarity with computerized cash registers or POS systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet arriving customers with a cordial welcome.
• Escort guests to assigned tables and present menus.
• Solicit rapport to accommodate special needs or requests.
• Maintain a visible presence at the cashier and assist servers as needed.
• Receive payments and process transactions accurately at the cash register.
