Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, MD, is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join a close-knit prototyping team. You will research concepts and build capabilities enabling warfighters to exploit sensor data and display information for operations.

Ideal candidates hold a BS or MS in a related field and have experience in software development, with willingness to travel to government or military facilities and to obtain required security clearances.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Coursework or internships involving complex software development (OO design, DB design, AI, data visualization).
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret and final Secret security clearances; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Willingness to travel and work at government/military facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Research and develop concepts to solve unaddressed, critical military operational shortfalls as part of an established team.
  • Perform system design and software implementation of POC prototypes across software, AI, real-time computing, and data visualization.
  • Support prototype evaluation and transitions of capabilities to government or industry.
