Job summary

Penske Logistics is hiring a Forklift Operator for 1st shift at our Houston, TX location. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM with a wage of $20.00 per hour. Excellent benefits include PTO, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K with company match, and more.

No prior warehouse experience is required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. You will operate forklifts, scan items, and maintain inventory records in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Proficient reading skills and ability to follow directions required.
• Ability to work independently, customer service, multi-tasking, organization, flexibility, numbers and time management.
• Overtime availability encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Accurately stage and sort products for loading.
• Move materials within the warehouse.
• Electronically scan products using the Warehouse Management System.
• Quality control of items.
• Identify and remove damaged products when received.
• Complete daily logs.
• Attach tags and labels to containers.
• Read work orders and determine material needs.
• Record units moved on production sheets.
• Pack and re-pack containers as needed.
• Read schedules and determine items to move or distribute.
• Fill requisitions and distribute stock to production workers.
• Weigh/count items to ensure conformance to standards.
• Use computer to enter records and maintain inventory.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment.
• Contribute to other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

• Accurately stage and sort products for loading
• Move materials within the warehouse
• Electronically scan products using a warehouse management system

• Ensure damaged products are identified and removed when received
• Complete daily logs
• Attach identifying tags to containers, or mark them with identifying information
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs
• Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets
• Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers
• Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed
• Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line
• Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards
• Uses computer to enter records
• Maintains inventory records
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks and a variety of warehouse mechanical equipment (where applicable)
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications

• No prior warehouse experience required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Proficient reading skills and ability to follow directions required
• Ability to work independently, customer service, dealing with others, multi-tasking skills, organizational skills, flexible, excellent with numbers and time management skills required
• Flexible to work overtime preferred
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job

• Willingness to work the required schedule, work at the specific location required
• Complete a Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening required.
