Jacobs is searching for a dynamic Warehouse Technician to join our team in El Segundo, CA. In this role, you'll report to the Asset Management Engineer/ Planner Scheduler and will be responsible for assisting the maintenance department with shipping, receiving, and distribution of procured items, monitor and control inventory operations, and general maintenance of the warehouse according to standard warehouse procedures. You’ll interface with all department managers, supervisors, and department representatives at the Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility (ECLWRF) to ensure that procured goods and materials are distributed to the appropriate location, and shipping/receiving receipts and manifests are processed accordingly and may interface with corporate finance and procurement to ensure proper orders are received, and provide information to ensure timely payment of invoices are met.
Principal Areas of Responsibility
- Receive, unpack, check and store merchandise or materials, and distribute to the appropriate department, or individual on the order
- Verify incoming merchandise against invoices or orders to spot quantity discrepancies and damaged goods, and inspect the quality and condition of the merchandise, signing off receipts and manifests
- Participate in the development of procedures and tools to organize the shipping / receiving and storehouse organization activities
- Ensure that merchandise is unloaded safely from incoming trucks
- Ensure that orders arrive and are dispatched on time to the appropriate destinations and in the expected quantities
- Report damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement and record-keeping purposes
- Ensure that purchase order items are incoming, and requisitions are filled correctly
- Ensure that parts and items purchased are stored correctly
- Informs appropriate individuals who have initiated the purchase orders that items have been received
- Receive merchandise in the financial system, or ensure it is received by another designated receiver
- Resolve customer service issues and complaints
- Follow up regarding back-order shipments and discrepancies with vendors, and/or corporate accounting department
- Maintain proper records pertaining to shipping/receiving and procurement of items
- Process returned and damaged goods in a timely manner
- Complete shipping and receiving reports
- Record shipment data, including weight, charges and space availability
- Follow-up with vendors and couriers on delivery dates or delays, carrying out correspondence with couriers, including shipment set-ups, delivery instructions and estimated delivery expectations
- Prepare freight to be shipped as needed
- Track physical inventories, and maintain inventory levels for parts, tools, etc., and ensure minimum inventory levels for critical parts
- Transports parts into the workshop and storage area.
- Maintain cleanliness of warehouse, and ensure it is always organized
- Optimize usage of space, including usage of shelves
- Identify obsolete parts, and coordinates disposal of parts with maintenance and operations departments
- Keep a monthly inventory up to date, sharing with key staff from the maintenance and operations departments
- Verify the accuracy of inventory and cycle reports
- Keep an inventory of shared tools, managing dispatching of tools, inspecting tools condition
- May operate forklift
- Ensure assigned area is kept clean
- This is a hands-on position and may require performing the work and duties of an Operator on a particular shift (e.g. board operation, field sampling, rounds and operations)
- May interact with the West Basin MWD’s representatives and contractors
- Other functions assigned by your supervisor

Here's what you'll need
- CWEA Grade I Maintenance Certification required or the ability to obtain Grade I within 18 months of hire date
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in procurement and general administrative office work
- One (1) to three (3) years' experience with a CMMS
- Two (2) or more years' experience in a wastewater/water treatment facility or similar industrial environment
- Valid California Driver’s License required with no major infractions and must meet risk management guidelines
- Ability to safely operate all office/warehouse motorized equipment, including a forklift
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within procurement
- Must be able to learn how to operate a forklift
- Must be able to accurately count and distinguish between similar products
- Must be able to use a computer and fax machine to complete assigned tasks
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Forklift Certification is preferred
- Must have good oral/written communication skills in order to effectively interact with customers, vendors, and other associates in person and on the telephone
- Must be customer service-oriented and team-oriented
- Must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to operate a computer and other office machines as needed to keep inventory records
- Basic mathematics and accounting abilities
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
The work area can involve a working environment indoors, as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper environmental attire will be required. Some areas can have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, airborne particles, noxious gases, pathogens and various chemicals. Safety is of the utmost importance. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, twist and bend at the waist, turn, kneel, squat, raise arms above shoulder height, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements and fine coordination when preparing reports and using a computer keyboard, have vision sufficient to read computer screens, printed documents and operate office equipment, have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. In an 8-hour time period must be able to transport self across the facility, ascend and descend stair steps, lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wear and use appropriate safety equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may work on slippery/uneven surfaces, around machinery with moving parts, moving objects/vehicles, and ladder/scaffolding, below ground and may be exposed to water and other liquid materials.
The employee will be expected to follow the H&S Manual guidelines and wear the appropriate PPE as instructed.

The base salary range for this position is $60,200.00 to $82,800.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
