Job summary

The Wenger Group is seeking a Warehouse Supervisor for the 1st shift to oversee daily operations of a meat product warehouse, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to food-safety standards.

You will lead warehouse staff, coordinate with production, QA, and logistics, maintain cold-chain integrity, and ensure inventory accuracy through FIFO and documentation controls.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years warehouse experience with 1–2 years in a supervisory role (food/meat preferred).
  • Strong understanding of cold-storage operations and inventory management.
  • Experience with WMS/ERP software.
  • Ability to operate forklifts (certification preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cold environments (35–45°F).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse activities including receiving, put-away, picking, staging, and shipping of meat products.
  • Ensure proper rotation of inventory using FIFO and lot-tracking procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and purchasing to meet demand.
  • Verify accuracy of inbound and outbound shipments, including counts, weights, temperatures, and documentation.
  • Supervise warehouse staff including material handlers, forklift drivers, and shipping/receiving personnel.
  • Plan and assign daily work, scheduling breaks and coverage for all functions.
  • Train employees on equipment operation and food safety practices.
  • Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure all operations meet USDA, HACCP, GMP, and company food safety requirements.
  • Verify proper handling and temperature control of raw and finished meat products.
  • Maintain documentation for traceability, lot codes, and shipment records.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to resolve product quality or packaging issues.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies and proper PPE usage.
  • Ensure safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and other equipment.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Identify hazards and implement corrective actions to maintain safety.
  • Coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Logistics, and Transportation to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate schedule changes, shortages, or issues to management.
  • Assist with route staging and loading for delivery trucks.

What Your Day Looks Like

The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily warehouse operations—including receiving, storing, organizing, and shipping meat products—to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with food safety standards. This role leads a team of warehouse associates and works closely with production, QA, logistics, and transportation to support a smooth, safe, and well‑coordinated operation. The Warehouse Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining product quality, cold‑chain integrity, and inventory accuracy in a temperature‑controlled environment. This position is specifically for 1st shift.

  • Oversee day‑to‑day warehouse activities including receiving, put‑away, picking, staging, and shipping of meat products.
  • Ensure proper rotation of inventory using FIFO and lot‑tracking procedures.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and purchasing to meet customer demand.

Who You Are
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Strong understanding of cold‑storage operations and inventory management.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP software.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment (certification preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in cold environments (35–45°F).
Preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Knowledge of USDA, HACCP, and GMP requirements is a plus.
